Resumen:

This study analyzes the need for systematic monitoring of the frequency behavior of the electrical system in El Salvador. As part of the international FNET/GridEye project, a Frequency Disturbance Recorder (FDR) was implemented. The obtained data were compared with measurements from the Unidad de Transacciones's Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition system (SCADA-UT)1, confirming the FDR's reliability for network monitoring. A descriptive analysis of the network frequency was conducted, describing the current state of the regional electrical grid and the events that occurred. The graphics show that the average frequency is nearly 60 Hz, with a typical range between 59.93 and 60.07 Hz. Many disturbance events were observed on Sunday, i.e., with a tendency for critical events to occur during the early afternoon hours. These preliminary results can guide more profound studies and the implementation of continuous monitoring campaigns to improve the quality of regional electrical service. The information obtained can help identify areas for improvement and take proactive measures to ensure a reliable and high-quality power supply. © 2024 IEEE.
