Resumen:

Using a qualitative approach and a phenomenological and hermeneutic framework, this chapter reports preliminary data on two analytical categories: prosocial emotions and coping strategies to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The data was obtained between April and August 2020 by means of an online survey called Psychosocial and Socioemotional Meter (MPE-COVID-19). The objective of the study was to analyze the emotional management that fostered actions of care and self-care among a community of undergraduate students. A total of 138 responses were analyzed along two main axes: emotional management in caring and caring practices within the university community. It was concluded that the emotional management of care and self-care of the students were based on prosocial emotions that reflected collective responses to face crisis contexts differentiated by sex and career, but no self-care actions were identified. © The Author(s), 2023.
