Resumen:

The current state of nonnuclear attractors (NNAs) in the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) is explored. In QTAIM theory, these are proper quantum subsystems, having their own basins, that do not contain a nucleus. Cases where nonnuclear attractors occur, how to interpret their appearance in diatomic molecules, complexes and systems where solvated electrons are detected, and their effect on the Bright Wilson justification of Density-Functional Theory (DFT) are reviewed. Briefly, QTAIM basins that contain more than one nucleus are also reviewed. © 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
