Resumen:

To encourage the development of space technology in Mexico, the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI)1 is developing an educational program to train Mexican specialists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)2 in different areas of space engineering. The educational program is conducted within the framework of the Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Russian Federation and Mexico, and under the General Agreement on Culture, Science and Education Cooperation between UNAM and MAI. The program was designed to provide theoretical and practical training necessary for the development of space projects. The structure of the educational program consists of three stages. The first one is the study of postgraduate plans including master's thesis and /or thesis for a Doctor's degree for the development of space technology, the second includes the study of a group of subjects fundamental to the development of scientific microsatellite technology and the last stage is carrying out a practical plan that allows direct participation in all stages of developing a scientific microsatellite. Several Russian and foreign space research centres and space companies are involved in the educational process.. The group of Mexican specialists involved in the educational program forms the basis for the development of space technology centre at the Faculty of Engineering of the UNAM. The paper describes the development of the educational program, the interaction of the participating institutions and the academic results achieved. The process described is the precedent of an international school for the training of specialists in space technology and is of particular interest for the development of groups of specialists from developing countries.
