Resumen:

Current Source Converters (CSC) have specific applications fields like electrolysis processes, induction furnaces, link for Super Magnetic Energy Storage and network support under fault-conditions. Many other applications such as the connection of renewable energy sources to the grid and active power filters could benefit from the CSC properties. The converter discussed in this paper is the Current Multilevel Rectifier (CMR) topology with a modular structure, and the aim is to present a study and methodology to ease the use of the CMR converter. Therefore, the study presents the component sizing for the converter, the equations that describe the behavior of the system under restricted operation area, and a control strategy based on passivity techniques is proposed. © 2019 IEEE.
